Is there anything US Citizens can do to improve chances of this Anti SPAM Bill becoming a law?

This bill seems to be facing increasing resistance from business lobbyist!

As a victim of continuous spam i am greatly dishartened by this news article

I thought the bill only inflicted financial penalties??!!

Well something must be done about the spam... i don't think actually doing time is the answer though, but fines sounds reasonable.
