Is there anything to do around SAP center in San Jose between midnight and 6am?

trying to decide if I should drive or fly, but earliest flight out if San Jose is 6am and I don't want to get a hotel.

PC bang?
Korean spa?
Other?

5/30 edit

So as it turns out there's a Greyhound bus arriving in San Jose at 7:40pm, and leaving that same night around 12:40am. My show is at SAP Center from 9-11. It appears the station is right across the street; this MAY be perfect.

Related, good places to chill around SAP Center? I was going to go here when I saw that it made Reddit a few days ago...

Unless you're in New York, Bangkok or Amsterdam anything you find to do between midnight and 6 am would probably be illegal. Go to airport early, find quiet corner and nap.

I'd probably just go to the airport at like 2-3am myself. Check in early while it's dead in there and get through security super fast with no hassle if it's open. Then just snooze or play games or watch videos on your phone or something. You'll probably want to set an alarm for like 5:30 in case you actually doze off and the plane leaves. :p

If it's a short trip, flying is a no-brainer.

Now there is some classic ATOT-level logic at work.

If it's a short trip, you might drive and be at home before the flight even leaves the airport. In six hours, with no traffic in the middle of the night, that's a good 300-350 miles or more of travel.

I am coming from Burbank airport. I have a concert that starts at 9 at SAP center. That concert ends at 11. The earliest flight out is 6am. hotel rooms are around $300/night. Southwest is $59 each way.

Driving is about 5 hours but I don't want to head out on a 5 hour drive at 11pm after 2 hours of drinking. So if I drive I'd be sleeping in my car at a rest stop until I'm good to go driving back.

Yeah a hotel would not really make much sense. You'd be going to bed, only to have to get up in a few hours. Assuming the flight leaves AT 6 you probably need to be there for like 5 which means getting up at like 4 to shower, check out etc. At that point may as well just stay up and maybe just snooze somewhere instead.

You misunderstand so let me clarify I meant the duration of his stay.

Ns1 is in SoCal so his drive is under 6 hours in light traffic. I've made that drive dozens of times and compared to a one hour flight, it's not worth it for a short visit (i.e. just a regular weekend). I'm also assuming he'd be tired after some event, so hitting the road at midnight is amongst the worst choices one could make. I can't solve the expensive hotel part of his problem, but for a one or two day trip, I wouldn't even consider driving.

SJC has been rated one of the most efficient airports in the country, I try to get there no earlier than 1 hour before a domestic flight. Security is a breeze, and flight delays are uncommon compared to SFO.

After several hours of drinking, ending at 11PM? I don't see how driving was even an option.

How about an Airbnb, get a good night's sleep, and then take a later flight? Unless there's somewhere you need to be at 8AM.

crashing at a rest stop after. my car would provide a better shelter from the elements vs the check in area of the airport. This is some poverty level shit, but it's the price I pay for catching 3 shows in 4 days.

1st world problems. :tearsofjoy:

I'd say a rest stop is doable, but I believe the nearest rest stop is 90 minutes away on I-5.
You can't find a reasonable hotel room on Hotwire? Or Airbnb like Carson said?

I could get a hotel, but that would cut from my debauchery budget at the next show.

Do capsule hotels exist in San Jose? Haha

I won't have a car and avoiding a hotel room is the whole point of this thread.
Don`t need a room or a car.....do it behind bush or under a bridge or under the stairs..........hooker for the win!!!

There are two Jack in the Box nearby SAP Center (~1.5 mile) that are open 24 hrs/day.

airbnb by sap center for $60 night. I guess that's only $20 more than the airport lounge...

I'm taking the bus y'all. $50 round trip, I can sleep while that mofo drives. Statistically speaking, I should stay towards the rear of the bus in case my driver falls asleep and crashes into a pole, correct?

Wow. I want to hear the bus stories when you get back. Talk about dealing with humanity LOL

Personally I'd just chill at the airport. San Jose's is pretty darn nice.
