Is there anything similar to Win98's "msconfig" for WinNT?

Is there anything similar to Win98's "msconfig" for WinNT?

I am trying to disable/enable certain programs that start automatically when I boot up. I know how to do this in Win98 but I can't figure it out in WinNT.

Thanks.

Yes, as CPORonin says Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel does the job very nicely.

I do NOT suggest going into the Service applet under Administrative Tools to just start shutting down stuff you think you don't want running. Those are SERVICES, some of them being critical to the functioning of your OS. In addition there are interdependencies among various services, so sometimes the unwary user will wind up disabling something s/he never intended to disable. You need to learn more about the OS before you start fiddling around in there. But the Startup Control Panel gives you the ability to control NON-service startup processes. Those you can turn off without suffering anything more than the loss of the particular entity you are disabling. Startup Control Panel is very much like the Startup tab in MSCONFIG, only considerably more versatile.

Regards,
Jim

Msconfig is not available in Win2k, no. If your trying to look at your system config like you could in Win98 just Right+click on my computer then goto Manage, this will bring up the Management console where you can get to just about anything you need to adjust or tinker with in Win2k.

Did you investigate the Startup Control Panel freeware applet suggested earlier in the thread? If so, what does it not do that you need to do?

MSCONFIG is not available in WinNT. Just use the applet given in the link above.
