not to the glory years. futurama beats the crap out of anything post season 9 though. s2 and 3 of southpark are pretty damn funny and would be the next contender.

Lionel Hutz: This is the greatest case of false advertising I?ve seen since I sued the movie ?The Never Ending Story.?
---
Lionel Hutz: Well, he?s kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace ?accidentally? with ?repeatedly? and replace ?dog? with ?son.?
---
Homer: Lisa, vampires are make-believe, like elves, gremlins, and Eskimos.

word for word, Lionel Hutz has some of the best lines in the entire show.

I agree but only if you had a time machine to go back to said golden years. I'm assuming you are referring to their 5-8th seasons or thereabouts. If you rewatch those you will realize that they have aged noticeably. But then so many series were amazing during their "golden years" Star Trek TNG/DS9, Babylon 5, X-Files, South Park, Family guy, and on and on...

Well had phil hartman hadn't died, we'd still have him to deliver quality lines and be on news radio. He will be missed. :(

Futurama Glory Years is better than Simpsons Glory Years. Same for Family Guy, Frasier, Seinfeld and Threes Company. Incidentally, all of the shows currently running suck ass right now, and Seinfeld was at its best in 3,4,5 and 6. Frasier was its best in the 2-6 and a handful of episodes from 7 and 8.

I would have to agree with the OP but Family Guy came pretty damn close. American Dad is good but not up to those standards. This is for animated shows, not counting actual shows in this comparison.

American dad and family guy go where the simpsons never dared.

Plus we would have still had Troy McClure.

Simpsons were at their best in seasons ~2 to ~10. That's a lot of episodes.

Heh even the commentaries are good:

Bart Gets an Elephant
Matt Groening: "I saw some punks at the LaBrea tar pits late one night throw a grocery cart into the tar pits, 'What are you doin?!?'
Punks: "We're preservin' it for history!"
Matt Groening" "It was like Jimbo, Dolph, and Kerney"

what the fuck?

GTFO :disgust:

For serious... Family Guy has made me laugh infinitely more times than American Dad ever has, and Family Guy has sucked elephantiasis balls ever since it came back. How do they get off calling 20 minutes of really bad one liners a show anyway? I haven't seen a lot of the prime of the Simpsons, I watched a little bit before it and a little bit after it apparently and never really got into it, but my vote goes to Futurama. I've seen every episode of Futurama at least 10 times and it still makes me laugh.

Futurama is definitely a good show. They just didn't stick around long enough for me to consider them better than seasons 3-10 of the simpsons. I'm hoping the new futurama will keep the quality going and not fall into what the simpsons has become.
