Well, Tool is playing nearby tonight... and they're just all the rage right now, I swear to god they're trendier then Britney Spears with a bunch of 3rd grade girls.. I can count the # of people I know who share my views on one hand... do any of you guys dislike Tool?

Oh and before anyone tries to tell me what I need to hear in order to "gain enlightenment" or whatnot, been there and done that 100 times, and I've listened to dozens of hours of Tool cds in my friend's cars... it just doesn't do anything for me. It's like.. chilled aggression, I dunno, I just don't like it.

I don't even know who they are...

Are they some bubblegum pop group or somethin'?

Why is any band that a lot of people like usually considered trendy? It makes it seem like every fan is a fan simply because it's "cool" to be one which I bet 9/10 times isn't the case.

It could also be said that liking underground bands and bashing popular bands is the "trendy" thing to do since so many people do it these days.

Anyway, I like a few of their songs, but they get a little too weird for me.

Not a big Tool fan, although for some reason I almost like Maynard's other venture, A PERFECT CIRCLE.
Almost...Most of the time I can't listen to APC either :)

They're okay... They're not the worst act around as far as I'm concerned, but they're far from the best. I think they drag out their songs too long for one thing. It takes them 10 minutes to do what could be done in four or five. And yes, I do like long songs, but theirs just seem to be the same thing over and over again. And I'm not a really big fan of their style of music, either. I prefer things like Metallica, Gn'R, Aerosmith, etc., when it comes to rock, rather than Tool, Korn, NiN, etc.

Alrighty, well, you are right... "trendy" is just something the minority uses to bash whatever the big group likes... it's just that I can't take much more of it, people are mortified when I tell them not only am I not going to the concert, but I don't even own a cd... they then proceed to put my musical tastes down in every way shape and form they can think of.

It sounds to me like you need better friends over a modification in musical tastes. :)

I've gotten accustomed to Tool over the last two years after listening to a friend of mine's CDs... I've found that they add a lot of musical variety into their music - i.e. real crescendos and decrescendos, climaxes, and lyrics that are far different from the "verse-chorus-chorus-verse-chorus-chorus-end" lyricism of most groups that are out today.

Nothing wrong with disliking them, however.

Since when is Tool trendy?
I like them, but they aren't one of my favorites.

been a tool fan for about 8 years now...i love them, think they have great musical talent...

i dont dislike people who dont like them though or think everyone should...they have become more popular as of recent years i think, but there have always been a lot of tool fans among us...just not as audible about it

they used to be the most amazing live performers until like a year or 2 ago when they started playing stadiums...before that it was just large clubs and like 6000 seat theaters....they were amazing live then

I will say that I do have tons of respect for my friends who have been listening to them for years... it's just that I've seen too many airhead girls and guys become Tool worshipers all at once recently, that's why I called them trendy.

I don't mind their music at all... But I think that Maynard has a horrible voice.

He's lacking the #1 quality in a vocalist... Range of emotion.

me ! ! ! !

i cannot understand the appeal of the relentlessly bleak, misery-glorifying alt-metal scene. if its therapy, just shoot yourselves -
it works better.

Tool is playing tonight at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
I am not going, but I thought I'd throw it in.
Tool hmmm the music is O.K. I think the lead singer has issues.

They are not a great band.
True, they're an amazing band. But that's just my opinion.
I swear to god they're trendier then Britney Spears with a bunch of 3rd grade girls..

So, it's not your thing, doesn't reflect on taste. Don't lose sleep over it.

I have one of their cds, Lateralus, and its ok. I dont mind listening to their music, but its just not my style.....I'd rather listen to NIN, Rage, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, etc.

Your title suggests that everybody likes Tool, but they dont.......theyre not very popular.....

I never understood why DMB was popular at all. I've always hated them.
