I know they suck, but THEY CHEAP! sub-10000.

I know they weak, but I die anyways if I get into a car crash no matter if it is a Toyota or Ford.

EDIT: No, I am not gonna buy a new one, definitely a used coz insurance will be lower

Saturns are in the same price range and I'm sure they hold there re-sale value much better.

They are cheap, and it doesn't really matter since you have a warranty.

And, don't consider a saturn. THey are a cult vehicle. I know they aren't as bad as they used to be but the "saturn picnics" and stuff? Ick, go away go away!! Plus they are fugly. Sure an accent is rinky-dink but at least you don't have to sell your soul to buy it!

On the other hand an Echo is ugly too but I think an echo is a better car than a low-end hyundai. Believe it or not these echos do 0-60 in 8.5 seconds and they have exceptional gas mileage. Plus nobody would argue with the fact that Toyota has a better reputation for quality than Hyundai.

Why the pre-occupation with a new car? Spend the cash on a cool used car, I'd personally buy privately and get a mechanic to check out the car, but if you buy from bigger lots, you'll probably get a 6 month warranty.

Unless you're loaded, buying new is stoopid.

Oh and as far as Hyundai's go, no one ever really seems to want a Hyundai, its always a compromise, 'Well they're cheap, they have good warranties'. Having said that, the one Hyundai that I'd consider is the coupe, its engines not that powerful, but its supposed to be an excellent car.

Hyundai sucks get a good used car for that price!
Hyundai's are maid from rusted metals and really low quality materials.
Check on the Warranty look at all the details and you're going to see that it's a piece of %##%!

It's your money. If you see a model you like and the price in right go for it.

Yea really woodie.

Besides a Saturn is one of the most highly regarded cars on the road. They are dependable and affordable. A lot of people where I live own one and they all agree that it is a great car.

Specialist, you're REALLY getting on my nerves. You know absolutely squat, and your demeanor is that of a pre-pubsescent boy.

Hyundai is getting better, just like Honda did. Hyundai has a lot of catching up to do, but at least Hyundai won't make anything as ugly as a Pontiac Aztek. This 10yr/100,000 warranty is nothing to laugh at. Try getting that with any car.

My Father is manager at a very large leasing firm. He says Hyundais have come a long way....all the way from Korea!:D

The new ones are as good as anything in their class and the price and warranty are nearly impossible to beat.

Yep. I think Hyundai is doing the right things. While U.S. car makers claim to have improved quality, Hyundai is backing that claim up with a warranty. If Ford or GM did that, I might buy an American car one of these days. Besides, Huyndais are pretty popular... in third world countries. If you don't have much dough, and don't want a used car, then Huyndai is an acceptable choice. I think toyota echo is a better choice under 10k.

KIA is the same (not sure on daewoo), KIA (also from korea) may look crappy - dunno if it is - but they are backing up their cars with incredible warranties. Perhaps ones day Domestics will have such warranties as well!

<< toyota echo >>

...Now there is a butt-ugly car!

Kias are crap! They might be OK someday, but I wouldn't go near one now.

Hyundai's are becoming better. Some of their higher end models (Sonata maybe?) are pretty nice cars. Reliability is supposed to be lots better than the older cars. And they are standing behind their products to show it. Most cars won't have powertrain problems in 100,000 miles. Maybe in 10 years, but not 100,000. If you have the car for 10 years, chances are it'll have more than 100,000. That 10 year thing is just a marketing gimmick to me. Jack it up to 150,000 and then I'll be impressed.

Personally, I'll never own any car not from the US, well, maybe Germany. Preferably Ford.

Tom is again right, Hyundais have come a long way, they used to be Korean made badge-engineered Mitsubishis with very poor quality control & weak suspension arms. But over time they have gotten better & better, plus they have been using there own designs for a good while now, virtually the only thing that's Mitsubishi designed now is the basic engine blocks (not that Mitsubishis are bad). Quality control has improved heaps too (not as good as Japan or Germany, but definitly as good as Italy, the UK & the US) & because of those multi-million recalls over suspension arms they probably now have the most over engineered suspension arms in the world.

Remember Hyundai make supertankers, containerships, rollon/rolloff ships (actually the Hyundai cars are bought across on Hyundai made ships). They also make tanks, small arms & destroyers too. Even the steel they use come from Hyundai steel plants.

So there must be some good engineers there.

Not that I'd ever buy a Hyundai, unless of course it was way under market value - I just don't like FWD 4cylinder puss buckets (unless they are Subarus or old Austin 1800s)

Still you are always better off buying a 2 year old 2nd hand car, than you are buying a new car.

Hyundai's XG300(?) is a 6 cylinder near-Luxury Sedan. It is a culmination of both Hyundai and Mitsubishi Engineering. It's a pretty nice car...it was comfortable...and quiet. Build Quality looked very good. In Korea this car is called the Grandeur

Here's my view, based on extensive experience:

Hyundai cars are excellent, especially when you consider the price.

They are refined, fast and handle well, and are simply incomparable to similarly priced British cars. The accent is simply streets ahead of cars like Vauxhall (Opel) corsa and Ford Fiesta. The XG30 is very comparable to Lexus. As far as driving is concerned, there is very little difference between the XG30 and LS400, except the price which is less than half. Reviews of the XG30 have been extraordinary. I've never seen such consistant raving from the pundits.

Hyundai's three year warranty is one of the longest. And their 'Unlimited' mileage warranty on the XG30 is unheard of.

Reliability is good - a study carried out by roadside rescue organisations and vehicle leasing companies concluded that the Hyundai accent was the most reliable car in Britain. Reliability across the range was also well above average.

Hyundai is a lot better than they used to be. I bought a 2000 Tiburon in March. I never heard the end of it. "Hyundai sucks, Hyundai sucks." Well all I have to say is I love my car. I've taken it across the country on a big trip and I drive out of state all the time. I have never had a problem. Hyundai finally got their $hit together and they are starting to make good, reliable vehicles.

I hear that a lot of people go to houston and race supercharged Dodge Neons and Honda Civics. I need to see if I can supercharge my Tiburon....
