on CNN's web page to get a text-only copy of the article you're reading? i need to print one off, but i don't want those silly tables and such that they put on the side in there(when i highlight to copy/paste those get selected too :()

Sure, just select where the article starts to where the tables begin, then right click and select "copy"
Open notepad and select paste.

Repeat with highlighting first line below from where the tables begin to the end of the article.

Print.

but when you go to highlight it, it selects all of this stuff they put in tables and text boxes that surround the text, then when i paste it into notepad, i get all of the code in there that i have to delete(i'm lazy :p)

I'm not sure if this is what you want. From your browsers "file" menu, choose "save as" and where it says "save as type" select "text file". It will save all the text on the page but you can then just use a text editor and extract the text you need from that.
