Is there a way to do this? Put aside $XXX from a checking account and invest it every 2 weeks or every month into a company without having to pay the fees associated with the broker... and then move them into the brokerage account?

If you can put in enough each month (see the site) you can avoid fees at vanguard.com and buy VFINX which is an S&P 500 index mutual fund (so you're buying 500 stocks at once).

This is one of the safest stock-based investments you can make.

some drips allow you to buy below market price also.

i had one for some years that all purchases were at 5% below the closing price , so that was 5% in the bank from the start
