Is there any way to use an SATA HD in a USB external enclosure?

I am looking to use a SATA as an external drive with a USB connection. Is this possible or can you only use IDE HD for this?

Thanks in advance!

there are sata external cases but none of them seem to use usb, they all require an external sata port on your pc.

i guess usb doesn't support sata xfer rates? or no one has made a sata to usb adapter yet.

last time I looked there were no SATA external cases available.
there are many external SATA drive enclosures available.

hmmm....

go to www.newegg.com

in the search box, enter "sata enclosure"

you get about 13 options for an external sata hard drive enclosure to choose from....among these..

linky1 - seems to have an USB 2.0 interface

linky2 - seems to have a USB 2.0 interface

linky3 - has a usb 2.0 and firewire interface

so i believe the correct answer is yes, you can get a sata external drive enclosure with a USB 2.0 interface.
