Is there any way to turn a built-in case's temp monitor into a MHz readout?

Is there a way to make the built-in LCD have a clockspeed readout, like an oldschool computer?

The reason I ask is I'm building a legacy system (early 90s/1st generation Pentium era). I want it to have the MHz readout at the front.

I don't need a "turbo" button. I just want it to detect the clock speed through whatever gizmo did it back in the 90s, and display it on the LCD. Or if necessary, to manually set it to display the desired number, to give the impression that it's detecting the clockspeed.

It would be hilariously awesome. :p

You can change it if you had access to its functions, which I'm sure is baked into the module itself and unchangeable through custom software alone. Plus, the LCD has fixed digit values(00 to 99), and it won't display any higher than 99MHz.

You could use this but it uses USB connection which I'm sure isn't supported with such old hardware. There's also a software issue(I doubt it supports Pentium era chips) as it works in tandem with LCD Smartie to relay the display information.

It has an older version that works with a parallel port but it still depends on LCD Smartie. It can be done but you'll have to write your own custom code to do what LCD Smartie does for Pentium chips.

no.. but u can get front LCD devices.. or mountable LCD devices which can take a CPUID off USB and display it.

With the way specs and benchmarking go for e-peens online a company should release a case that has the old school style MHz read-out. I remember my 286 AST, 8mhz? Turbo button BAAM! 10Mhz.
