I have a Scientific-Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR unit from my cable co, and am wondering if there's any way to copy or offload the recordings I do to the computer for burning onto rom with these units - WITHOUT having to do a vidcap on my computer (double compression == bad). I ask because of the plethora of ports available on these things (USB, Firewire and Ethernet).

Anybody know about these things? Are they networkable?

I just got mine the other day, and I was thinking the same thing.

Haven't heard of any official hacks though.
