Is there any way to speed up the drop down menus in WinXP?

I just added another 256 mb's of RAM and the only thing that bugs me about WinXP right now is that it seems to take so long for the drop down menus to appear. Is there a way to change this to make it faster?

TIA,

Sal

Go to display properties -> appearance -> effects.

You can disable some of the flashy gui stuff from in there.

Also, if you go to Control Panel->Performance you get a much more comprehensive listing of stuff you can turn on/off to make the gui run faster.

I agree with noninterleaved turn off some of the flashy stuff and you'd notice a nice performance increase. Monitor your system and you'll most likely to notice that RAM size is not your bottleneck.

The biggest problem, is that the menu's use that "fade" effect, which basically just scales the alpha channel. Not too many video cards do alpha in hardware right now...

There is a key in the registry that you can modify, I have done it before but I forget where I found out how to do it. It allows you to set the menu delay speed. Someone might have more information on this.
