Is there any way to speed up downloads at Microsoft TechNet?

I am downloading Windows 7 Ultimate x64 from Microsoft TechNet and this 3GB download is going to take almost 4 hours. I noticed I can only download this file at about 230 KB/sec. I decided to download the Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta x64 at the same time and it is also downloading at about 230 KB/sec. I have Verizon FiOS 35/20 service and usually download stuff at over 1 MB/sec. Thanks for any help.

TechNet is usually much faster than that. I would say it is a temporary condition - maybe the whole world downloading at once, i.e., bandwidth congestion.

OK - I just went there and downloaded a big file - Office 2010 Beta, and the speed started at about 950 KB/s but steadily increased to over 1300 KB/s. That is about normal. That is with Comcast cable.

230KB is pretty low for technet but it's not the end of the world, 4 hours isn't going to kill you 🙂 As corkyg said it's probably a minor bit of congestion due to other downloads.
