Is there any way to remove this stain from my dresser?

I had some rubbing alcohol in a plastic bowl on top of my dresser soaking something... Phone rang, had to run out - one thing leads to another and I get home a few hours later to find the bowl wilted, and a pool of alcohol drying on my wooden dresser.

It seems the alcohol reacted with the finish and there's this white stain that I haven't been able to remove to any degree of success. I scratched it with my fingernail and it does come off by scratching it, but I don't really want to start scraping with a razor blade or trying to lightly sand it off for fear I'll make the top even worse.

Does anyone know of a way to remove this white stain/mark?

Thanks :)

Let it dry out for a few hours. My pine kitchen table does the same thing when a liquid has been exposed to it for a while. The stain goes away after a while.

BUT, since alcohol is a solvent of sorts, it may have dissolved some of the finish the table. You may have to sand it down and do the whole top.

What type of finish is on the dresser?

And, BTW, I thought the title read "Is there any way to remove this stain from my dress"?

I was going to leave a Lewinski-ish remark, but I'll have to wait until another and and another thread.

you may have to refinish the dresser.....

if it's an antique, you may wanna get a restorer to do it.

if the dresser was waxed, you may just have to rewax it. and buff that "stain" out

the finish has been stripped from that spot. You will have to sand down the entire area and refinish it.
