Is there any way to make CS run faster?

Im getting a tad annoyed at CS.
The game isnt perfectly fluid at all times for whatever reason.
Back when I was stuck with a Celery450 and a GF DDR I figured that at 800x600 the CPU would be the bottleneck, but a while ago, I got a Duron 600, which Im now running at 900, same GF DDR, and while some scenes are faster, the ones that were noticeable choppy before still are.

The one that comes to my mind first is if standing right in fron of the mansion in cs_mansion, I'd say it runs at around 25-30 FPS, as does some other places in various maps.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Try the autoexec.cfg creator at Tweak3d

I will agree wide open spaces in CS do slow you down. It has to do with how the game engine is setup to handle large-open areas. One-tip, these open areas are where snipers normally setup, so throw a smoke grenade at the sniper. Now he has to snipe at 4 fps. 🙂

Hehehe, too true. Those lag, oh I mean smoke grenades are great! 🙂 I think they aren't as bad with the newer version 1.0 of CS though.
