Is there any way to just turn off my laptop monitor?

I like to listen to some music at bedtime but I don't like the huge light the monitor brings. If I close it then it will hybernate and the music will go off. If I put it in the display properties to shut off after idle for a certain time it will turn off but when the music goes to the next track it comes on. Rather annoying.

Model: Chembook 2056
I use Windows Media Player

turn off hibernate in your power saving settings.

set it to do nothing when you close the lid in advanced power settings.
