next thing you know sombody's going to want linux and windows.... aaaaggghhhhh..

duel boot :here is what you want to do if you want to dual boot your comp - forget it . it's one of the most unplesent things in the galaxy.not actually evil but it makes your comp bad tempered, bureacratic , officious , and callous. why when your done your comp won't even spin a drive to save you from the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast ot Traal.

Have 2 OS's on the same computer? What a crazy idea! It's impossible! Just forget it and move on.

lmfao,,,

really only reason i'm asking is a friend has win/xp and i have win98se,,,,and the mic doesn't work for us anymore

but what about being able to zip 98se?

zip - as in an installation copy , instead of on a disk - or save a copy of an installed operating system : as in x-copy it to a drive then zip it to save space ?

can't see why not. they're just files. if you have a fixed size swap file (Win386.swp) then you can also get rid of it from the saved files.

If you zip Win98, it will not be operational.

You won't be able to zip it if you want to run it.

andy's right . you can't zip an opperating system while it's in use , and you can't run an opperating system while it's zipped.
what you can do, if say, you'd like to save a snapshot of a fresh install, is copy it to a different drive. then you can compress it with the compresion program of your choosing.
by the way, how much space are you needing to save ? does your hard drive just have one partion ?
reformat\repartion beg-borrow-whatever for a larger drive
