"Going to Disney is not about saving money it is about spending money"--Disney executive.
So what if you can save 20 bucks on a couple of tickets. You will still spend 200 bucks for a day at the park. Give it up...once you walk thru the door you may as well hand over your wallet.

Disney posts record profits, record bonus for the head of the company (he made 250 million last year) and the place STILL RAISES IT'S FSCKING RATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just say NO to Disney. Go somewhere else and spend your money.

Jeez...Why are you so mad at Disneyland?

Any company that can make that many people happy is okay in my book...

Tell them what I just posted. Disney should not get another dime of our money. Did you hear they used the Twin towers as an excuse to lay off a whole bunch of people? They were paying the actors there crap anyway, and then they lay a whole bunch of them off. Disney sux.

Did you hear that the WTC attack really did cut down on tourism to everywhere?

They were paying the actors there crap anyway, and then they lay a whole bunch of them off

Jeez. People work there for more than just money. They could pay people $2/hour to work in the park and they'd still have to turn people away.

btw

<== Used to work there during summers :) If you can get into contact w/a current employee, they get 20% discount on tickets (and food, souvenirs, etc.)

damn some of you must have had really dark childhoods

Definitely. I've probably been through the park 50 times (as a kid w/parents and then as an employee who got in free) and it was still awesome every single time. ;)

That's it? At Disneyworld employees get a certain amount of free tickets.

There's three levels:

Casual Temporary - Part time for a month or two of the year
Casual Regular - Part time for a bigger portion of the year
Full Time - There's really more categories that go into Full Time but I don't know what they are nor does it matter...

I was a CT. CR's got 2 free passes a month plus a bigger discount on stuff (35% I think). I have no idea what kind of benefits Full Time people got.

Everyone at all levels got into the park free as often as they wanted

All I know is that there are a lot of kids where I live who see all the Disney commercials on tv, and their parents have to tell them that they cannot afford to go to the park. For a typical family of four to go to Disney for ONE day, you can figure on spending about this much:
Breakfast buffet outside of hotel==30 bucks.
Park entrance==about 160 bucks
Lunch============60 bucks
Dinner============60 bucks
Souveniers=========100 bucks
Hotel==50/night

Total $460 PER NIGHT

If you go for two days (I defy anyone to see Disneyworld in one day) you can double that...almost 1,000 dollars to see Mickey.

And those are conservative estimates. Before I gave up on Disney, my family would take a couple of days a year to go there. If I came home 600 bucks poorer I considered myself very lucky. And we would drive there, stay two nights in a hotel, and drive home.

I know that it is the "American Way" to charge all the public will bear, but we are talking about kids here who do not understand that mommy and daddy might not have a thousand bucks for a two day excursion. Especially when they could probably charge half as much for admission, let people bring in their own food, and still make an enormous profit.

We like to talk about doing things "for the children" in this country...when you go to Disney, you are doing something "for the children: all right...you are subsidising the obscene lifestyle of the children of Disney Executives.

No thanks.

Ahhhh....I see. I should've known there were different levels. I went with my girlfriend's cousin and her boyfriend who worked fulltime at Disneyworld. He got us all free passes. It was great. They lived in Orlando, so we stayed for free, he got us free passes for the Magic Kingdom & MGM. The only things we had to buy were food and booze. It was a great trip. :D

Well there's an econ lesson for you :)

Say you came all the way from Japan or Germany to see the park. The $60 lunch sounds insane for a local family but to the foreign tourists who paid , it's a much smaller percentage of the total cost of the trip.

It's supply and demand...and you'll never see an empty food court in Disneyland.

Also, don't give me that "There's no other place to eat so they gouge you." There's a McDonald's a block from the entrance...a Denny's and a Norm's a short drive away.

Yes :)

I remeber a time when I took my little sister and my two little brothers to the park.

I got in free and managed to find some CR's who gave me three unused free passes (cuz you get them each month and they expire after a certain period of time).

I got free parking at the hotel which is right next to the monorail station which takes you right into the park and serves as the first ride of the day ;)

Once in, all the food and souvenirs were discounted and friends on rides gave us front-of-the-line passes :) (Something we were allowed to do...mostly it's for if the ride breaks down)

At Fantasmic!, a friend gave us a secret spot that they only clear for seating 10 minutes before the show starts so we got to sit right on the water...

Needless to say, my little brothers had a *great* time :)

Yup, if you know anyone that works there, they should be able to get you in free...

If not, I know the UC Schools sell discounted tickets (abliet not that much) but still better than nothing...

yes that is a lot of money, but I don't think Eisner has much time to go out and spend it. Disney is a huge company (disney channel, abc, espn, theme parks, motion pictures, ...). He probably works non-stop and takes very few days off. Eisner has also done a lot for disney during his time with them. When he retires he will have a lot of money, but he deserves it. His job is not something most people can do.
