As long as it's not an electronic key or anything high-tech like that you can get it copied quite easily.

Otherwise you'll need to take the VIN to a dealership & get a new key, which costs quite a bit of $$$.

Go to the store. If they have the blanks, then cool. If they don't it is probably an encoded key that you must get from the dealer. there is no legality issures.

Unless it's one of those trick anti-theft keys with a resistor in it or something, it's no prob. No legality issues, as long as it's your car ;)

I go to a local locksmith and have him make a duplicate.
I bet he makes more keys than the local dealer.

so you have to have the VIN to get a copy? just curious because we have 3 cars, and there aren't enough keys for 2 of them, and i know my parents are too lazy to do it :p

Any local locksmith should be able to copy it within minutes for a few bucks.

Copied my 94 Toyota Corolla keys just fine, took about 2 minutes and cost $3.

:( I had to go to a dealer to get an extra key made for my 1980 Mercedes 450SL, it cost me $30 too. They a funky key that is kinda incut so you cant get them anywhere else. My friends father has a new Mercedes and he was saying how he needed another key once and it cost him $110 and it needed to be laser cut in Germany.

I went to my honda dealership and they just took my VIN number and make a copy of the key without the original. Kinda scary if you ask me.

Tell them you want it on an NSX blank, thats what I did for my Integra. Actually I'm getting tired of Jiffy Lube people asking me about my NSX:eek:
