Is there any way to emulate a joystick with a mouse?

I want to turn the speed of mouse/cursor movement into a joystick axis that can be interpreted by games. Googling turned up nothing except a lot of programs that do the opposite, let you use a joystick as a mouse.

Hmmm, I don't recall any games that let you use a joystick actually Require you to use a joy stick. What games in question are you referring to? And for this reason I have never heard of what you are asking about.

I want to emulate those exercise bikes that provide joystick input for use in racing games, but I just want to use an optical mouse to read the speed of the bike tire. AFAIK, no racing games let you use the mouse forward speed to control throttle, because that would require a huge desk
