i hate that green glob thingy. any programs/tweaks to change it? otherwise im running the 'silver' theme and i find it quite nice...

How bout if you want to keep the cool silver profile? I hate the damn green button too.

go to control panel, display, appearance, then color scheme, then pick silver

spray paint dude!! not felt tip markers! actually i'm not even running XP but i've seen pictures and yeah, once i install it i'm sure that i'll quickly become tired of a perpetual phatty green button staring at me from the bottom of my monitor whenever i'm hackin' my OS.

I would prefer to to alittle reg and file changing than use a felt tip marker to accomplish what you wish. There is sh@t loads of info on topics like this all over the net. Try a google search and I will bet you will find your answer.

It is possible. I just saw this recently, but could find it. It requires a hex editor and hacking the shell.

waddy's site shows how to hack explorer.exe to change the flag icon and text of the start button, but I didn't see any way to change the color. I browsed through all bitmaps in explorer.exe, but didn't see anything that looked like a bare green background.

I did capitalize the word Start...I think it looks a little better now.

how bout auto-hide it so u don't see the GREEN button all the time? maybe that's why i don't mind it much...

I use a (0,0,51) colored background with the silver theme, and I think the way the green stands out is nice...at the same time, I'd like to be able to try other colors(not just hide the green).

It doesnt look like anyone has found out how to change the color of the Start button without using Windows Blinds.
