Is there any way to change the spinup/spindown times on a cdrom?

I dont need my Cd to read at 1000x when I just want to open a small file. I'd rather have it not sound like an airplane and start up much faster. Any way to do so?

damn. is this going to work? sounds pretty nifty 🙂.
with nero - can you control drives individually? like one drive has fast speeds, the other fast spinup time?

Hmm, drivespeed works, but the setting doesnt stick. I can get it to read at 8x if I set it manually, but as soon as I eject and reinsert, it goes up to 20x.

The german program works waaay better since it actually resets the speed each time you change media. Plus, its even in english after you install it.

It is truely shocking how much noise these things make at 48x, and how utterly silent they are at anything below 16x. Way way better for watching movies, and since you can set it per drive, I can use my CDRW to read stuff and absurdly fast as possible.

Not to mention CDs are recognized way faster, and everything just seems to load faster, as it isnt constantly going back and forth spinning up and down.
