I have AT&T service, and the plans suck. I've heard people say that they've changed the carrier on their 8260's from AT&T to cingular. How can this be done???

AFAIK...

ATT and Cingular operate using different methods (transmission) that's why you can't buy an 8260 at a cingular store. Cingular = GSM, ATT = TDMA

ATT = 8260
Cingular = 8290

Am I wrong?

also if they cannot make your phone work, you can put it up on ebay and buy another one (new/used, your choice) for Cingular

i use an 8260 with cingular in PA. also ATT uses 8260 here. 8290 for the company with the annoying commericals. voice something.

Dude if you don't like ATT don't try Cingular, they are worse....have you seen AT&T's new plans? They are really good.

The plan I'm on is the government plan, which has 20 anytime minutes for 13.99 a month. Then I added 500 night/weekend for $5 each month. It's not that I'm not happy with AT&T, their plans just suck.
Why shouldn't I switch to Cingular? I know it sucks on the West Coast, but here on the east coast, I've heard that it's fine. And Cingular does have better plans (plus my friend is an employee who can give me a nice plan ;) )
