is there any way to bypass Majesty 2's installation of DirectX9?

It doesn't even ask if you want to install DX it just does it.
I am running Windows 7 and it causes the Nvidia graphics driver to crash constantly.
The game is a DVD that also requires Steam to run.
Thanks

Unless you haven't had DX9 installed before, it shouldn't install anything if there's a newer version. Try installing the latest DX9 runtime from Microsoft's website.

You say it also requires steam to run, if so, add it to steam library, then try installing it through steam. (Click on the Games menu at the top, click on Activate a Product on Steam, and put in the game key). This could bypass the problem if you are currently installing from disc.

Otherwise, as BFG10K said, if you already have a current version of DX9, the install from disc should not try and overwrite it, so don't know how to get around that.
