Is there any way to buy windows full version and install today?

Through poor planning on my part, I discovered that I don't have a valid Windows OS license for the new computer I've built. Is there any way I can buy a full version of Windows 7 or 8 online today, and get a valid windows code, and download/burn the iso today?

The local Best Buy only sells upgrades, and I need the full/system builder version.

Thanks!

Now I just have to decide between buying Windows 7 or Windows 8.

If you want the cheaper option, you can use the Windows 8 upgrade on a non-activated copy of Windows. This is what I did with mine, installed a retail Win 7, didn't activate, then upgraded to 8 and it installed and activated smoothly.

Note that this is only valid if you have a legitimate copy of Windows to surrender.

If you don't have a touchscreen do NOT bother with windows 8. Its not bad if you have a touch interface but I found it to be a huge pain without.

It's not that bad on a large monitor. I.remove most tiles I don't use. I don't even have an ms account to login so majority of the tiles are useless. Most people will be using the desktop mode half the time.

As for laptops with touch screen, I hated that. Touch, swipe , type something then touch again. If I wanted to wipe the screen off 6 million times I'll stick to my smartphone.

Well, wasn't really looking for advice on which OS to buy. I just needed to sleep on it for a night. In any event I decided to buy Windows 7 home premium from Newegg.

I have a habit of waiting to upgrade to Microsoft's newest OS until after they come out with SP1. It's a policy that's served me well over the years and I see no reason to make an exception for Windows 8. I'll simply buy the upgrade in a year or two after they release SP1.

Thanks for the tip regarding Windows 7 running for 30 days without a key. That really saved me from being in a tight spot!

Get Windows 8 and don't use Metro if you don't like it.

Windows 8 is a better OS underneath.
- Better security
- Faster boot
- improved file system
- Storage Spaces
- and more ...
