Is there any way to backtrack an email address?

Lets say I needed info (like a name) and all I had was this email addy: goalevan@aol.com

There has got to be a way to backtrack someones email address right?
(I don't want to get into why I need this info, all I can say is he stole something and I want to track his ass down).

get roger...although with an aol address you might have to get some kind of police papers or something for them to spill their guts.
