Is there any way of capturing to jpg or gif a picture within a PDF file?

Not sure about previous versions of Acrobat Reader, but you can "select" the image and have it copied to the clipboard with Reader 6.

Acrobat 6 crashes my system here so I switched back to 5.

I wonder if there is any other way.

cant u just do a print screen and then edit it with PS or something?

Actually, just fired up Acrobat 5 here, and there should be a "Graphic Select Tool", which is right next to the "select text" tool. Seems to work the same as in Acrobat 6.
