Is there any way around a bad FDD controller.

There used to be ISA add on cards for IDE & FDD, but I've never seen one for PCI. I had two boards with bad FDD controllers and I'm wondering if there is a work around. Since USB support in Win2k is nill that pretty much means these have to go back. They are identical boards from same batch. 🙁

I don't know about the rest of your question, but I've been very succesful using USB devices in Win2K -- if that's an option for you, it's certainly possible.

As mentioned, LS-120s are great. USB floppies would also work fine as long as you don't need to boot off of them.

What brought bad controller to my attention was the fact that A: it wouldn't finish reading a Win2k setup disk and B: it wouldn't finish loading setup from the CD. Bad controller somewhere, or other. I sent them back for replacement/refund.
