Is there any tests for wifi congestion on routers?

It will be interesting to know if there have been any tests that detail how many wireless clients can actively maintain decent throughput via a wireless router.

We all know that they can assign some 256 addresses, but how many can actually maintain decent throughput via any soho wifi router?

no soho stuff done, but iirc Cisco has some whitepapers on their AP's. Of course, that is like black and white from a 1200 to a Linksys.....

My guess would be "it depends". Wireless is a strange beast, and things change all the time. It's not so much the AP that is the problems, but the actual channel. They have a load for that frequency, and the more clients on that, the higher the load. Cisco AP's and CCX clients can actually query/tell you load and noise for a specific channel (Cisco AP's will even change channels based on noise and load of other networks on that channel)

Wireless design dictates that no more than 12-15 clients should be on a single access point. And that is pushing it.
