I'm looking for software (if it exists) that will allow me to use my cdrw to burn dvd-rs. i would like to burn on the 4.7gig disks but i don't know if any software would allow this. i don't even know if a regular cdrw will burn them in the first place. any help would be appreciated.
thanks

you obviously don't understand the difference between two technologies.

this would be mechanically/physically impossible.

so i take it, that that's a NO?
these two technologies are different and i should just get a dvdrw?
OBVIOUSLY, i don't know that or i wouldn't post such a question :p

ok...

before you go out and get anything...
you need to first understand the different formats of dvds.

if you go to anandtech's faq... there's a brief summary of them.

i guess my first question would be are you storing data or a/v?
if data, is it going to be updated. does it need to be rewritten?

depending on your answers, you'll have to choose a different format.

as of now, there's no standard. which just means that whatever you choose, you'll run into some compatibility issue.

so pick the one that suites your need the best.

nope, there are some ads online selling software that can do this. but it is not possible. only DVD-recorders can record onto DVD discs

CD-R(W) and DVD-R(W)'s use different types of lasers. Software wont change that.
