Is there any software that blocks those annoying video ads?

I really hate going to a website, only for some damn video to start playing trying to sell me crap. Or even worse, the audio ads that are so neatly hidden you can barely find the mute/close button. It pisses me off.

Do ad-blocking software block those as well?

Firefox + Ad-Block Plus + Flash blocker works for me.
You can run the flash if you want, but otherwise, it stops everything.

Hmm...sorry about the wrong forum. Thanks for the links, but I don't like firefox anymore. I find it slow. Is there something that works for all-browsers? (i prefer Chrome)

Let's not start a browser war. Can't you people have one fucking conversation without resorting to petty "ew, your browser sucks, you need an upgrade"?

StinkyPinky, there used to be an advert blocking program that ran 3rd party to all browsers, but the more adds you block the more code it injects into the header of each and every webpage you visit, eventually bringing your browser to a crawl. I used to use it, but it totally blows and there's nothing browser-independent anymore.

You either have to just deal with it (I use and prefer Chrome too) so you'll have to either switch to FireFox so you can use AdBlock or just deal with it. I'd prefer to deal with it than lose Chrome.

Thanks guys. Sounds like there's nothing easy like Firefox has, which is a bummer. Thanks for the link though, Godless. I'll check it out - man I hate websites that think it's perfectly acceptable to have freaking loud ass ads popping up and yelling at you. and i'm talking about some reputable sites as well...when the fuck did this become acceptable?

Holy shit, you're blind

I am 10 feet away from my monitor.

Oh, far sighted, eh?
I am leaning back on my couch with a wireless keyboard and mouse. My monitor is my 50" plasma TV.

I have a 47" LCD on the wall 8 feet away and it's still running 2560x1440 and I see everything just fine..

Are you thinking of Proxomitron by any chance? I've never used it, but it supposedly works with anything.
