Is there any security hazzards when using WinXP Simple File Sharing?

Here is my home network setup:

I have Two PC hooked up to a Router, then into my Cable Modem.

Since this is a home network i do not have any reason to restrick access to any infomation on either PC.

So my question is that since WinXP Simple File Sharing does use user name/passwords to gain access from one PC to the other, is there any security threats from the outside internet that sould be worried about?

From a perspective of LAN, if you do not need internal security you can use simple file sharing. I.e. you do not gain any thing by switching to pro file sharing.

As far as Internet infestations, the Junk does not care too much about your file sharing method to begin with; if it programmed to spread it will spread.

Regardless of the file sharing choice I would put on every computer Software firewall, Antivirus and Antispy protection.

If your running XP Pro and have a connection out of your LAN (Internet) then disable Simple File sharing. Simple as that.
