Is there any reason why pc700 will not work in this board?

i just got a p4 1.5 and an intel D850GB motherboard. i already had 2 sticks of pc711 NEC 128mb and thought that i could use those. i cannot get it to boot up. it does not beep or anything with the ram in. it does if i take them out. intels site says that pc700 is not supported on that board. does that mean the will not work?

not supported doesnt always mean that it doesnt work, but i would bet that it wont work. same thing with my dad's i840, it only takes pc600 or pc800, not pc700.
