Is there any reason to get an HD-DVD player or Blu-Ray?

If not, you can buy a DVD player with HDMI and upconvert for well under $200. I picked up a Samsung about 6-8 months ago that has both for $179...I'm sure they're even cheaper now.
 
kinda of in the same boat, i just bought an upcovert dvd player about a year ago, so im trying to get some more use out of it before i jump on the hddvd or blu-ray bandwagon. though the upcovert looks great, so if you guys are right when saying it looks even better,wow 😱
