Is there any reason NOT to get an LCD now?

Price has gotten to the point where it's relatively affordable.

Currently, my main reasons for holding off are:
-faster response times for gaming/video, aka ghosting
-1600x1200 @ 18"+
-price is still a factor, they cost more than similarly sized CRT's

I'm coming from 3 beautiful 19" CRT's each running at 1600x1200 (85hz, 75hz, 72hz) so I'm a bit spoiled.

But I'm sick of tripping the fuse whenever I have all systems on and the microwave at the same time 😱
So I need some power savings that LCD's offer.
Been looking at Dell's 1800FP but they only do 1280x1024 with response time in like 25-30 ms (?).

Will there be LCD's <= 16 ms response times, 1600x1200 resolutions, costing ~$500 coming in the near future?

Planar is the only LCD manufacturer, that I know of, that makes a 19" 1600x1200 native screen. That will set ya back about $850. I'm hoping to make a switch to LCD too, but when 19-20", 1600x1200 native and the response times are lower.

There aren't any 19" LCD's that have faster than 25ms response. Samsung may or may not release their new LCD technology in the 192T, but who knows. I'm pretty sure that panel will be 1280x1024 as well. If you want 1600x1200 you'll have to go higher, 20/21/22". You'll probably be sacrificing response time for real estate as well.

You guys who like their resolution that high are in the minority, and that's why you probably won't see 17-18" w/ 1600x1200 any time soon.

Even at 1280x1024 on my 18" lcd, my coworker said the pixels were just too small for her, so she demanded a 21" monitor to run at 1280x1024.

Back to the topic at hand, the reasons not to get LCD now have already been covered: cost, resolution, possible ghosting (reportedly not real problem on the fp1800). It's definately a tradeoff, no one can decide for you which is more important.
