is there any reason for GTX>GT?

No need for a Geforce 7 card at all if you're stuck with a 15" monitor.

ATI is selling x800pro refurbs guaranteed for 3 years under warranty for $179, AGP or PCI-e.
You won't need anymore than that.

I was just thinking...if you were planning to spend $500 on a video card for your 15" monitor, why don't you buy one of the sub $200 we recommended and use a couple hundred to buy yourself a nice 19-20" monitor. You'll be really happy. Gaming on a monitor such as that is no fun.

I dont know...what happens if you want to upgrade to a bigger monitor later on. Then you would have to get another video card.

X800XL = ~$240 OR 6800GT = ~$280
LCD 19"--Hyundai L90D+ = ~$340

Total = ~$580/620

Buy this instead of a 7800.

nope, if you can't play 1600x1200 then no point in getting the GTX, go with the GT. 17'' monitors and below a 7800GT will let them play at max resolution with max settings in any game as of now.

Ya and then to find out he can't play at max settings at 1600x+ resolution -_- I say he should stick with 1024x768 resolution with max settings, which a 7800GT will allow him to do.
