Is there any point to "registering" hardware and software

You know how you always get that little card in everything you buy that they want you to fill out and send in.

It seems to me that as long as you have the original receipt there is no reason to register..

Do you guys send those cards in?

warranty support is often based on registering.

I remember with some Peachtree FAR rebates, you could not get the rebate until you registered.

Did I type REBATE too many times in this post?

The product registrations make it easier for the company to contact you in the case of a recall. That's all I can really think of.
