Is there any particular reason why all released version of ICQ are BETA?

Well, for them Alpha is the beta release and beta is the gold version. I don't understand this...

I think it's so they can say, "Well, it IS a in beta" when people complain about all the bugs. They always have an excuse.

yeah, I think that technically, "beta" means no support, while "official" non-betas mean the company issuing the software offers support. ICQ doesn't want to bother with the millions of users potential problems, so it keeps the program in continual "beta". lately, companies have been bluring the line with betas: just look at 3dfx's multiple beta Voodoo3 drivers that are "officially" released by 3dfx in between true supported releases. kinda lame if you ask me.
