Is there any other way to use an .iso without burning it?

The title says most of it. My cd burner is not working and I want to download the new Mandrake 8.2 os

No, I think he actually wants to mount and use the ISO as a virtual CDROM. WinISO will not let you do this. What you need is Daemon Tools, its a very small, free utility which lets you mount ISO images and they appear as actual CDROM drives under My Computer. You can have upto five (I think) ISO images mounted at once so its useful for games which have more than one CD. I've been using it for months without any problems.

Mitzi are you using XP? I tried Daemon Tools a few years ago with Win 98 and had a lot of crashes. Has it gotten better? Maybe my SCSI CDrom/CDRW subsystem conflicts with the virtual drives?
If you have any "secret" tips for Daemon, LMK.

Dameon Tools works like a dream for me in XP Pro. In fact, I need to buy another hard drive because when I found that program, I started imaging all my software. It makes things very convenient because I can never find anything when I need it.

Yeah I'm using XP - Daemon Tools works like a dream, don't get any crashes whatsoever and I run all my games from ISO images now 🙂

I have IDE drives but I don't think that a SCSI sub-system would cause problems. I don't have any secret tips - just download the latest version of the software and you'll be fine.

Oh yes, I use WinISO to create my ISO images - don't know if that makes any difference.

Good luck with it!
