Is there any other food so poorly designed as the taco?

meat between starch. Simple concept right? Germans masterered the Hamburger, Brits the sandwich, Americans got the hot dog, Italians gave us stromboli, and asians perfected the steamed bun...so on and so on

I can't believe mexicans screwed this up so badly. I can't seem to finish a taco without my meat falling out the other side. Or if it's a hard one, to finish without the shell all crumbled into pieces halfway through.

Should we make a petition to have mexicans redesign the taco?

If it's a soft taco/burrito you're supposed to fold the bottom-facing end. If your hard taco shell is crumbling up like that, it's probably stale and crappy.

Also, tacos have the highest meat to starch ratio. You need to try adding some cheese. It acts as an adhesive.

I have more trouble with gyros. But they are delicious so that makes up for it.

Is there any real difference between a Gyro, a shawarma and a doner? A quick look at wiki suggests these are basically all the same dish just different names in different cultures. I've never ordered a Gryo but I love me a good shawarma/doner. It's probably the demographic here.

Maybe someone has a better definition but in my experience:
gyro - greek, thicker softer pita bread, folded over
doner - turkish/arab, thinner naan bread, sometimes burrito wrapped
shawarma - same as a doner except without tanziki and less veggies, burrito wrapped

I grabbed midnight snacks at the shawarma stands while I was in Prague and Vienna.

omg pure sex. I can't seem to find that stuff here in Socal

Hmm. Thanks. I'm sure there are some notable differences. One thing that muddies the waters a lot though is all the different variations of the theme. Different migrant populations play with the "formula" when they immigrate to different countries. A quick look a wiki shows there's all different kinds of regional differences for each of these.

o_O Shawarmas/Donair's are very popular here. Can't imagine a diverse place like SoCal they would be hard to find. Course they may not taste the same. As I said above every place seems to have their own take on the formula.

That is part of the goodness of tacos. That way when you've eaten the taco, you look down at your plate and "hell's yeah, more taco".

Tacos might be badly designed but the pure awesomeness of burritos makes up for any fail.

Gyros have this same problem, yet they are delicious and I find no reason to complain.
