I have to build a complete system for a friend, and I'd like to get everything from 1 source.

Any thoughts?

If you're buying alot of parts Newegg is the way to go, they have extremely crappy shipping prices so if you just need a couple things it's probably better to look elsewhere.

Another vote for newegg, expecially for their RMA service (1 week total there and back vs. 2-3 week minimum to gigabyte🙂

I think you would be happy with either Newegg or Multiwave. The Newegg shipping charges are pretty crazy as Demonicon pointed out, they go from free shipping to outrageous charges. They seem to even out somewhat if you order multiple items though.

I don't understand how they calculate shipping charges. On 1 mobo they charge $4 for shipping while on another they charge $8 for shipping.

I'm sure they have their reasons, but their shipping charges are still weird! They ship CDRW's (for example) for free, but want $4 to ship a $2 IDE cable! Still a great place to shop.

I also like newegg, but i'd love to find a good store outside of California so I wouldn't have to pay the 8.25% CA sales tax...any suggestions?

neweeg never seems to have the best prices IMO. I order where it's cheapest and Newegg is never at the top of pricewatch. Also they seem to always be out of stock on the part I need. I love Multiwave because when I got my entire system from them some parts were missing. They sent them out fedex next day for free and threw in some extra IDE cables and drive mounts!

Newegg. I shop on total price. Total price = price + shipping. If Newegg is close on price, then I think about the fact that I know I can trust them.

Yeah; that's about the ONLY thing I don't like about Newegg. One tube of Arctic Silver 3 costs $6 to ship 🙂Q); 2 tubes and it's $12 to ship. That is kind of weird.
Might be good to check out MWave. I've shopped there before without any problems; and their shipping calculations make more sense.

Obviously Newegg.com has great prices, love there service!

Though, I also recommend GoogleGear.com, and TCWO.com

Maybe someone mentioned this, but didn't read all posts.

Try pricewatch.com if you haven't yet. Not the "one site" your looking for but a great resource.
