Just curious, is the next leap in CPU tech still a year or more away? Is seems like right now the Video Cards are becoming light years apart from the CPUs which are bottelnecking the systems.

The FX-59 will be out sometime Q1 2006 supposedly. Rumor is Jan/Feb release. That'll be the next fastest single core chip.

nothing revolutionary, just some minor speed bumps (which in most cases can be achived by an o/c) and change for ddr-2.

Shimmishim hopefully you will get a CABYE 0540 FPBW from Monarch, both my processors are the same stepping and I got them two weeks apart.

1. DDR2
2. PCIe controller on board
3. 65nm - who knows really but looking at intel it enables great jumps in clock speed.

Don't worry AMD wil release speed demons next year too.

However, I'm not too crazy about that presidio/pacifica stuff though so I can't see me getting into it - turning your personal computer into a corporate controlled terminal.

AMD has pretty much promised that Presidio will be not be forced upon users, so that may not be a big thing right now. It does show you the industry's general direction, though.
