No apparently there isn't a optical Cordless mouse in the market right now. If there is I'm sure Logitech or Microsoft would the first to release it. However I believe it has to do with the power consumption on the optical making it difficult to have a cordless version. The optical laser is definately not a LED, and can probably consume a couple volts. Unless they use rechargable batteries like cordless phones with a recharging bay for the new optical cordless mouse, it wouldn't make any sense to use regular AAA or AA batteries because it would run out after a few days(and Energizer Titanium 2 won't help).

I've heard M$ is developing one now, but is not sure of a ready market...so it may B awhile till ya C1. Also, I think Dexion makes a really good point about power drain, I never actually thought bout that!

Sorry, but that is incorrect. The light source (RED) you see from beneath an optical mouse is in fact a high brightness red LED. Laser diodes emit coherent monochromatic radiation which can be collimated into a narrow beam with a simple aspheric optical element.

Power consumption does present a problem in designing a [cordless] optical mouse that will track smooth AND have acceptable battery life.

Cheers!

I'll take an optical mouse over a cordless mouse any day!
I love my optical mouse, and I don't much care one way or another about cordless mice.
