I'm using Innoculate but shortly it will no longer be supported.

Is there any good, free anti-virus software out there?

i used avg, but i really like norton better. if you don't mind paying a little money, if you get the right deal, you can get system works (which includes the anti-virus, ghost, and a lot of other stuff) for 15 bucks.

there's also F-Prot for dos.. this has been around forever.. and though you need to manually update the virus definitions, it's nice to have an extra tool to use... oh, even though it's dos, it's still like 2+ megs so it wont fit on a floppy which would be nice.. i remember the older versions fitting on a floppy..

avg is good as well.. i use that and norton av for protection. :)

I got Norton free with a mobo, then all of a sudden like last week it says that the free trial time ends in one week. I was pissed, i didn't know there was a "counter" in it or whatever. I got rid of it and haven't really worried about virus protection for a while.

Bad mistake dude. Once upon a time I thought, "I'm a smart PC user and I'll never d/l a virus. Plus AV progs take to much resources" And then one day i got screwed hard. Not even repairable without a reformat. Get AVG or something!

<---- hates norton system works

it does all sorts of weird things to the computer, has tons of TSRs and other programs that get installed on top of the antivirus which adds about 3 things to the task manager itself. i've since moved to mcaffee AV, and i'm pretty satisfied with that.

When I try to install AVG, I get a setup initialization error. Any idea what's going on?
