Is there any difference from searching with Google.com and Yahoo.com?

I've always been used to using Yahoo...since I was a wee-lil' boy. I've noticed that yahoo now says "Powered by google tech..." Does that mean that it'll turn up the same results as using google, or am I definately missing out by not using google?
 
doesn't yahoo give you links to their community sites first
for example, do a search on TATU, and you'll get a link to LAUNCH, a yahoo partner up on top...
 
If i remember correctly, Yahoo wasnt really a search engine like altavista or google until they became "powered by google". Before, they were more of a dynamic yellow pages.
