Is there any decent freeware PVR software out there?

The TV card I have is a bit archaic (it's good though - BT848 based with a philips tuner), but the software it comes with is horrendous. On a whim I tried the Leadtek PVR software which is "supposed to" allow capture from other devices, but it doesn't find ANY capture devices installed (either the tuner card OR the nvidia VIVO in my computer - it says nothing is install, assuming because there is no Leadtek card installed).

So I'm looking for something with decent tuner support, and a good array of recording options and codecs (or codec plugins). Anyone know anything? Or any tricks to get the leadtek software to work with other cards?

I think Dscaler can use that chip..not sure though. I have a TV in the computer room now so I don't even use my comps tuner anymore.

I tried a generic BT848 driver I downloaded from some page before, but it didn't do much for me. This one might work though. Thanks.

Have you tried VirtualVCR? Not sure if it's considered "EASY", but it is flexible and pretty powerful.
