Is there any DDS (tape drive) simulator software?

I need to learn to use Veritas Netbackup fast and to be able to enter to some features I need to have a tape drive connected to the sysytem... so, is the anyway to fool Veritas Netbackup or the OS into believe that a certain partition or directory is a Digital Data Storage (tape drive) unit? Maybe some soft or some other way....

wow. what a question. I wish I coudl help you out man🙁

I just checked VMWare just in case but no dice.

Have you tried reading and rereading the manuals? Better than nothing

I've had no luck finding such a thing. There are a fair number of hardware devices out there that emulate flavours of tape drives that they are not(including a few based on hard drives) but there doesn't seem to be any software.

Your best bet might be hitting Ebay for a cheap 'n outdated tape drive of some sort.

yeah, tape drives are dirt cheap for older models. I have one for my home box (50GB tapes make great backups).
