Is there another name for "slotket" (and where can I buy one)?

I am trying to buy a slotket but no one (online stores at least) seems to have them. Do they go under another name or something?

I've seen them called slot-to-socket converters... anyway, here's one: SVC.com Edit: whoops, it's out-of-stock, sorry about that :p

If you have a Slot1 machine you want to upgrade, you want *want* the UpgradeWare Slot-T which will allow you to use a Tulatin CPU! (If your mobo is on the extensive compatibility list...)

Nothing like spending $70US and getting a Tulatin Celeron over a GHz along with the Slot-T. It's the best, most advanced slot-to-socket converter out there. Of course, if you have a simple Coppermine CPU already, most "slockets" are adequate.

I own a ASUS P3B-F Slot 1 board (Not sure of what revision it is but I'll have check later) and currently run a P3-450 in it. I am about to get a P3-933 socket 370 chip.

bluemax, do you have a link to that product? I assume that it is safe to use it with coppermines as well?

A tualatin celeron 1.0a - 1.3a will be cheaper ($40 - 50 boxed retail) and is faster than the 933. It also only needs PC100 RAM not PC133. So if your mobo is on the compatibility list go with a Slot-T + Tualatin.

Yep, I checked www.newegg.com a few hours ago and saw that a 1.2 Celeron would cost me $40, but I might get this 933 for free. Well, in any case, I need the slot converter first (again, will a tulatin adapter work as a coppermine adapter as well?).

I put a Slot-T and a Celeron 1.4 in a P3B-F last week. I set it up for 115 MHz FSB and its purring along @ 1.6 GHz.

Yep, I refuse to give up on my trusty 440BX especially when I've found out that there is still a whole lot of life left for it. Great board, great chipset :).

I've set up a few BX boards with the Slot-T and a Tualeron. Nice simple drop in upgrade. Up and running in a flash. Its cheap and offers a nice speed increase. BX lives on...

I've been holding off on a slotket for my BE-6 II....still running my 'ole Piii 500MHz Katmai @ 600Mhz. I just end up accumulating more socket A boards though, and I can't justify spending $12 on a slotket and more than $50 on a Tualeron or Tualatin when I can just pick up a faster XP for < $50. I need to upgrade it though....hmmmm.....

The people I did it for only had one system. It was great for them. Its kind of fun to do it just because "you can" if you know what I mean. Its kind of cool to get a system that was meant for ~ 500 MHz running at 3X that speed.

Yah I need to check out the options, its definitely a fun board that has options that are just resurfacing on newer mobos (like running different divider ratios), although the other features are starting to show their age (ATA66, USB 1.0, nothing else really). Any good recommendations on a nice ~$60 OC'able speed bump combo.

Well, for $60, the $20 Slot-T and a $40 Celeron 1.2. If you can get it to 133 FSB, you have a 1.6. Only thing is your AGP will be @ 89 MHz which some video cards may not like.

 I'll check it out..first priority is getting either a 2500+ Barton (for me, 2100+ goes to bro) or a 1700+ (for him, unless it OC's better than my 2100+ :D). I don't think AGP should be a problem, its got a GF3 in there which I've taken to ~95MHz on a 1/2 divider. Thanks for the suggestion though, was gonna ask for 100MHz rec's but you already beat me to it. :)
