Question Is there another alternative to dban?

Hello all,

I've used dban in the past on older computers. I never had an issue. On my newer computer which is about 3 years old I'm trying to wipe clean a SSD 256gb before I sell the system. I'm having issues because dban doesn't recognize the drive. I've tried going into bios and disarming security, and I've gone legacy mode. I've read that dban hasn't been updated since 2012, and that it can't recognize ssd drives. Does Win 10 have a program where I can wipe clean (destroy) data on the hard drive? Or, do I still have to use 3rd party software. Thanks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many SSD brands offer a clean/wipe function inside their utility programs (e.g. Samsung, WD, Seagate, Intel, etc.).

What you want is to perform an ATA Secure Erase on the SSD. I think on Windows you have to use third-party tools for that, many SSD manufacturers provide it in their software.
