We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The problem has been identified, and we are actively working on a resolution. There is no impact to user data or functionality, this is strictly a front-end display issue. We’ll post an update once the fix has been deployed. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted.
It won't be out until late summer. There is a beta version of it floating around. If you want it, do a search in here - it was discussed with a link to it a day or two ago.
I am currently in the SP3 Beat program and it will be probably later than September that you see it finally get out to the public.
Kind of sucks cause it seems to fix a few things I had issues with. 🙂
Could someone post here a link to where the beta can be downloaded from? I recently reverted back to using 2000 from XP and am interested in SP3. Not that I am having any problems with it the way it is now 😀
What is the deal with the password? Did the person you got this from not supply it? As for it being illegal I do not understand that. It just wouldn't be official.
Just found the official ms ftp which contains all 679 fixes which will be included in the SP3 soon to be available as a single download on the MS update pages. 679 bug fixes!!!!!!!! Thats insane!!!!!!!! I don't know if I want to download all that shtuff and then go through and install each and everyone of them one at a time!!! Prolly better off waiting for the all in one release ehh. Or not 😀
I said many posts ago that the link is in this thread.
The SP is just a roll-up of all the individual fixes that can already be downloaded.
However, beta Microsoft service packs should be avoided in my opinion. Do any of your remember NT4 SP2 that killed almost EVERY server running that installed it? Do you remember that it was pulled from distribution within a week of being released? Do you remember that NT4 SP4 caused many problems as well and it was pulled eventually as well?
Do we not remember that because of these disasterous service packs that Microsoft implemented a 'beta' program for SP's for the first time?
Actually SP3 is supposed to be adding some new features to Windows 2000.
It isnt supposed to be just a rollup of fixes from microsoft, it addresses some other issues as well.
One such addition is in the final release an X-client is to be added to it so that Rapid Re-keying for wireless can be done like in Windows XP.
I know more support for wireless was one intention, wether or not that will happen is a whole other battle.
